Happy Deepawali 2025
Continue to expand your ego

  1. During Deepawali, when houses are decorated with rows of glowing lamps, the entire atmosphere is filled with beauty and joy. But if only one lamp is lit instead of the rows of lamps, then its light and beauty remain limited. Come, let us ponder over this experience of ours and try to make this year’s Deepawali more meaningful for ourselves.

  2. By the infinite grace of Shri Yugal Sarkar, we learnt from Param Pujya Babuji (Shri Hanumanprasad Poddar ‘Bhaiji’), Param Pujya Shri Radha Baba and Param Pujya Nanaji (Shri Dharmendra Mohan Sinha) that, on Deepawali, normally the house is adorned in order to welcome Shri Sita-Ram – however, through this adornment, it is more important to adorn the heart with divine virtues, and this is possible only if the Ravana-like ego has been conquered beforehand during the festival of Dussehra.

  3. We are all a portion of God, who is the concentrated form of truth-bliss and consciousness (sat-chit-anand). However, the sense of ego binds us to the gross form of our body. This amplifies the importance of personal likes, comforts, conveniences, prestige and honour. This leads us to harbour feelings like hatred, anger, jealousy, superiority or inferiority towards any person who becomes an obstacle in these personal attainments. To experience the light of Deepawali, it is extremely important to relinquish such petty feelings.

  4. Along with other members, we are all a part of some group or the other – be it the workplace, or house and family. If we keep holding on to the thoughts of narrow-mindedness and pettiness, then we would want that ‘everyone should act as per my liking, pay attention to me, praise me’. This makes us like that lamp which wants to burn alone. Due to this narrow-mindedness the light, beauty and joy of our lives become limited.

  5. But, if we keep our attention focused on God, we will constantly reflect on whether God is pleased with every effort of ours or not? If He is, then we will feel satisfied upon receiving His love, and our desire to receive praise or favourable behaviour from others will be quenched. In addition, we will also gain the ability to share the satisfaction and joy of bein connected to God with every member associated with us. In this, we will give importance to others in mutual interactions, accord priority to their righteous choices and feel happy to hear their praise. In such a harmonious environment, we will definitely obtain comforts and conveniences, prestige and honour for ourselves too.

  6. That is why Pujya Nanaji would remind us of Pujya Babuji’s injunction that we should not try to destroy our ego; we should simply expand it – that is, include everyone within it. We should maintain this feeling that it is my God who is getting happiness by way of every living being, and I am also happy with His happiness. In this way, we should keep on including all living beings in our ego, till such time that our gradually expanding ego finally dissolves at the lotus-feet of God. With such efforts, Shri Sita-Ram will definitely come into our lives, and the festival of Deepawali will become meaningful.

सौंप दिये मन प्राण तुम्हींको सौंप दिये ममता अभिमान।
जब जैसे, जी चाहे बरतो, अपनी वस्तु सर्वथा जान ॥

मत सकुचाओ मनकी करते, सोचो नहीं दूसरी बात।
मेरा कुछ भी रहा न अब तो, तुमको सब कुछ पूरा ज्ञात ॥

मान-अमान, दुःख-सुखसे अब मेरा रहा न कुछ सम्बन्ध |
तुम्हीं एक कैवल्य मोक्ष हो, तुमही केवल मेरे बन्ध ॥

रहूँ कहीं, कैसे भी, रहती बसी तुम्हारे अंदर नित्य ।
छूटे सभी अन्य आश्रय अब, मिटे सभी सम्बन्ध अनित्य ॥

एक तुम्हारे चरणकमल में हुआ विसर्जित सब संसार ।
रहे एक स्वामी बस, तुम ही, करो सदा स्वच्छन्द विहार ॥

आजु इन नयनन्हि निरखें श्याम ।
निकले है मेरे मारग तैं नव नटवर अभिराम ॥

मो तन देखि मधुर मुसुकाने मोहन-दृष्टि ललाम।
ताही छिन तैं भए तिनहिं के तन-मन-मति-धन-धाम ॥

हौं बिनु मोल बिकी तिन चरनन्हि, रह्मौ न जग कछु काम ।
माधव-पद-पंकज पायौ नित मन-मधुकर बिश्राम ॥

मधुपुरी गवन करत जीवन-धन।
लै दाउए संग सुफलक-सुत, सुनि जरि उठी ज्वाल सब मन-तन ॥

भई बिकल, छायौ विषाद मुख, सिथिल भए सब अंग सु-सोभन ।
उर-रस जरयौ, रहे सूखे द्वय दृग अपलक, तम व्यापि गयौ घन ॥

लगे आय समुझावन प्रियतम, पै न सके, प्रगट्यौ विषाद मन ।
बानी रूकी, प्रिया लखि आरत, थिर तन भयौ, मनो बिनु चेतन ॥

भावी विरहानल प्रिय-प्यारी जरन लगे, बिसरे जग-जीवन।
कौन कहै महिमा या रति की, गति न जहाँ पावत सुर-मुनि-जन ॥

कर प्रणाम तेरे चरणों में लगता हूँ

कर प्रणाम तेरे चरणों में लगता हूँ अब तेरे काज ।
पालन करने को आज्ञा तव मैं नियुक्त होता हूँ आज ॥

अन्तर में स्थित रहकर मेरी बागडोर पकड़े रहना।
निपट निरंकुश चञ्चल मन को सावधान करते रहना ।।

अन्तर्यामी को अन्तः स्थित देख सशङ्कित होवे मन ।
पाप-वासना उठते ही हो नाश लाज से वह जल-भुन ॥

जीवों का कलरव जो दिनभर सुनने में मेरे आवे ।
तेरा ही गुणगान जान मन प्रमुदित हो अति सुख पावे ॥

तू ही है सर्वत्र व्याप्त हरि ! तुझमें यह सारा संसार ।
इसी भावनासे अन्तर भर मिलूँ सभी से तुझे निहार ॥

प्रतिपल निज इन्द्रिय-समूह से जो कुछ भी आचार करूँ।
केवल तुझे रिझाने को, बस, तेरा ही व्यवहार करूँ ।।

मंद-मंद मुसकावत आवत ।
देखि दूर ही तें भइ बिहवल राधा-मन आनँद न समावत ॥

नव नीरद-घनस्याम-कांति कल, पीत बसन बर तन पर सोभित ।
मालति-कमल-माल उर राजत, भँवर-पाँति मँडरात सुलोभित ॥

सकल अंग चंदन अनुलेपित, रत्नाभरन-बिभूषित सुचि तन ।
सिखा सुसोभित मोर-पिच्छ, मनि-मुकुट सुमंडित, केस कृष्ण-घन ॥

मुख प्रसन्न मुनि-मानस-हर मृदुहास-छटा चहुँ ओर बिखेरत ।
चित्त-बित्त हर लेत निमिष महँ जा तन करि कटाच्छ दृग फेरत ॥

मुरली, क्रीड़ा-कमल प्रफुल्लित लिये एक कर, दूजे दरपन ।
देखि राधिका, करन लगी निज पुनः पुनः अर्पित कौं अरपन ॥

कृपा जो राधाजू की चहियै

कृपा जो राधाजू की चहियै।
तो राधाबर की सेवा में तन मन सदा उमहियै ।।

माधव की सुख-मूल राधिका, तिनके अनुगत रहियै ।
तिन के सुख-संपादन कौ पथ सूधौ अबिरत गहियै ॥

राधा पद-सरोज-सेवा में चित निज नित अरुझइयै ।
या बिधि स्याम-सुखद राधा-सेवा सौं स्याम रिझइयै ॥

रीझत स्याम, राधिका रानी की अनुकंपा पइयै ।
निभृत निकुंज जुगलसेवा कौ सरस सुअवसर लहियै ॥

निभृत निकुंज - मध्य

निभृत-निकुञ्ज-मध्य निशि-रत श्रीराधामाधव मधुर विलास ।
मधुर दिव्य लीला-प्रमत्त वर बहा रहे निर्मल निर्यास ॥

बरस रही रस सुधा मधुर शुचि छाया सब दिशि अति उल्लास ।
लीलामय कर रहे निरन्तर नव-नव लीला ललित प्रकाश ॥

सेवामयी परम चतुरा अति स्वसुख-वासनाहीन ललाम ।
यथायोग साधन-सामग्री वे प्रस्तुत करतीं, निष्काम ॥

‘मधुर युगल हों परम सुखी’ बस, केवल यह इच्छा अभिराम ।
निरख रहीं पवित्र नेत्रोंसे युगल मधुर लीला अविराम ॥

जय वसुदेव-देवकीनन्दन, जयति यशोदा-नंदनन्दन ।
जयति असुर-दल-कंदन, जय-जय प्रेमीजन मानस-चन्दन ॥

बदन मनोहर मदन-दर्प-हर परमहंस-मुनि-मन-कर्षी ॥

अरूण अधर धर मुरलि मधुर मुसकान मंजु मृदु सुधिहारी ।
भाल तिलक, घुँघराली अलकैं, अलिकुल-मद-मर्दनकारी ॥

गुंजाहार, सुशोभित कौस्तुभ सुरभित सुमनों की माला।
रूप-सुधा-मद पी-पी सब सम्मोहित ब्रजजन-ब्रजबाला ॥
